If you were born outside the United States and both or one of your parents have become a U.S. Citizen, you may be able to derive U.S. Citizenship. To determine whether you are able to derive U.S. Citizenship depends on whether both or just one of your parents are U.S. Citizens, when you were born, whether they were married at the time of your birth, and whether you are a Lawful Permanent Resident. You may also be able to derive U.S. Citizenship if you were adopted. The determination of whether you have derived U.S. Citizenship can be very complicated, and there are very serious consequences to claiming you are a U.S. Citizen if you are not. If one or both of your parents have become a U.S. Citizen, it is highly recommended you speak with an experienced immigration attorney. Contact Dorsett Immigration Law for your free consultation.
